Frequently Asked Questions
Many states require electric utilities to post hosting capacities to help facilitate deployment of new energy projects on the distributed generation grid. Common examples are solar (PV), battery storage (BESS), traditional generators that export, and even new technologies including fuel cells and others. Often those deploying loads also are interested in this capacity, such as EV charging stations and datacenters.
There is no standard for hosting capacity updates. Most utilities perform updates unannounced and at irregular intervals. Its a full time job to stay on top of it if you were to track manually!
See here for our list of hosting capacity information. Are you aware of a utility that we aren’t tracking? Let us know!
IXScout monitors and logs available hosting capacity information 24/7 for all available electric utilities. Changes are detected real time and shared in a human readable format as they happen.
